mea Named a Finalist in Three Categories at the Insurance Times Tech & Innovation Awards 2026

Blog

The Insurance Times Tech & Innovation Awards are an annual celebration of the technology and innovation reshaping UK general insurance. Run by Insurance Times, they recognize the companies and initiatives setting the pace for technology and innovation across the sector. mea is a finalist in three categories: Best Use of AI (Service Provider), Technology Partner of the Year, and Innovation of the Year (Technology Service Provider). The winners will be announced at the ceremony on 17 September 2026 at the Royal Lancaster London.

What the Insurance Times Tech & Innovation Awards Recognize

The Insurance Times Tech & Innovation Awards reward demonstrable results. Judging runs in two stages:

  1. A senior editorial panel reviews the first round and selects the finalists
  2. Finalists then present live to a panel of industry judges

Across the categories, those judges look for clear evidence of impact: results from the previous 15 months, supported by data and internal KPIs. That focus (on proven outcomes) is what gives a place on the shortlist its weight.

mea’s Three Categories at the Insurance Times Tech & Innovation Awards

mea is a finalist in three of the technology-focused categories. Here is what each one recognizes, and where mea fits.

mea shortlisted for 3 categories across the insurance times tech & innovation awards for their exceptional use of AI in insurance, their recognition of being an incredible partner, and their domain-specific language model (dsLM) & insurance knowledge graph innovation.

Best Use of AI (Service Provider)

The Best Use of AI (Service Provider) category recognizes partners that unlock AI for the industry, with real value for clients and customers. mea Operations runs across underwriting, claims, finance, and broking in production. It is live with 30+ clients in 21 countries. It has processed more than $400 billion in gross written premium to date.

Technology Partner of the Year

The Technology Partner of the Year category recognizes technology suppliers and partners that go beyond the sale to build lasting, collaborative relationships. A partnership works when the client’s business runs better for it. With mea, that gets truer over time. The platform learns from each client’s own decisions and data, so it becomes more accurate and more tailored the longer they run it, and the value of the partnership grows with it.

Innovation of the Year (Technology Service Provider)

The Innovation of the Year (Technology Service Provider) category recognizes technology providers whose innovations help clients streamline operations and achieve measurable outcomes. mea runs on a proprietary domain-specific language model℠ (dsLM), trained on years of real (re)insurance data. Alongside it sits a proprietary insurance knowledge graph℠, which holds millions of insurance terms and relationships in context. Together they let mea’s agents operate at an unparalleled level of accuracy and efficiency out of the box. They deploy in production in under eight weeks. The innovation is an insurance-native foundation, built ground-up for insurance.

An Insurance-Native Approach the Market Keeps Adopting

The Insurance Times Tech & Innovation Awards have long been one of the places the UK insurance industry looks to see who is setting the pace in technology and innovation. Reaching the shortlist in three categories is a signal worth reading. It reinforces an insurance-native approach to AI. The market keeps adopting that approach; from carriers to MGAs to brokers.

Why mea’s Recognition in the Insurance Times Tech & Innovation Awards Matters

Recognition of this kind matters for one reason above the rest: it is grounded in work that is already live. This is not a shortlisting for a concept or a pilot. It reflects what mea’s clients and partners run in production every day, and the results they see from it. That is why the recognition belongs as much to them as to the team that built the platform. For years, the industry has treated the back office as a cost to manage. A three-category shortlist is a sign that the industry now sees it differently, as a problem that can be solved.
